Though it should be acknowledged that the dance challenge was initially started by ARMYs on Twitter to mark BTS’ recent release, Idol, but more significantly, it was a way for South African fans to celebrate their culture, the original challenge also tagged with #BTSXAFRICA, and #BTSIdolChallangeAfrica.

While the choreography for Idol is known to incorporate elements of traditional Korean dance and the South African Gwara Gwara, the #IDOLCHALLENGE encourages on fans to put their own creative twist to the choreography and, as key with any viral dance challenge, to just enjoy themselves.
