BTS’ Jimin Sets A New 24-Hour SoundCloud Record with “약속 (Promise)”

Though released as a gift to fans for free, Jimin’s “약속 (Promise)” has broken a major SoundCloud record.

It has recently been revealed that BTS’ Jimin has set a new high for the most SoundCloud streams within the 24 hours with the vocalist collecting 8.5 million streams for his solo track, “약속 (Promise)”.

The track breaks SoundCloud’s record for the best first-day debut, surpassing Drake’s “Duppy Freestyle” which had previously held the record with 4.9 million streams.

Following its release, Jimin’s year-end gift to fans also maintained the No. 1 spot on the SoundCloud Top 50 and New & Hot charts for 48 hours globally and had already garnered 15 million plays within 72 hours. The music sharing site revealed that the top five countries leading the streams were South Korea, the United States, Vietnam, Indonesia and Japan.

After previously hinting fans about dropping a self-composed track before the end of the year particularly through the teasers for Mnet Asian Music Awards, Jimin had revealed “약속 (Promise)” within a handful of days of 2018’s close.

The track shines a spotlight on Jimin’s distinct vocal colour while accompanied by a guitar. Its lyrics kindly speak of being your own source of strength.

BTS’ leader, RM, also is credited for penning the lyrics alongside Jimin while fellow vocalist V is credited for the cover art as Vante. In-house BigHit producer Slow Rabbit had revealed that this project had been in the works since last year in April and had commended everyone on their participating, especially Jimin.

Thoughts? Is anyone surprised at this point? How fantastic is it that such as heartful song written by such a sweet person is able to seize such a big record! Tweet us at @ForeverBTScom!
