Less than 2 weeks is left until BTS drops their long awaited album ‘Love Yourself: Tear’. Today (May 6th), they decided to drop comeback trailer ‘Singularity’ which is sang by Kim Taehyung, known as V.
Singularity, unlike Serendipity and Euphoria, gives us dark vibe. It’s R&B song which perfectly fits V’s voice. It sounds so soothing yet it’s not.
Lyrics are deep and meaningful.
‘Have i forgotten myself
Or have I gained you’
But what’s the meaning behind them?
‘I suddenly run to the lake
There’s my face in it’
This may relate to Narcissus, hunter in Greek mythology, who was beautiful. One day he saw himself in the lake and he fell in love with his own reflection. So after he has fallen in love with his own reflection, he didn’t know whether that’s true love he is feeling or he is just losing himself. He is talking about feeling the pain that doesn’t exist.

Because the me behind this mask
Is not the one you know’
He is using mask to cover his true self. By hiding like that he is losing his real self which he doesn’t accept and neither does he wants others to see it.
This whole songs seems to be about awakening of the soul. Taehyung is trying hard to hide himself behind these masks but he knows the consequences of it so he doesn’t know what to do anymore. It seems that he is trying to run from himself to finally become himself.
The only thing we know for sure is that Taehyung’s vocals, dancing, visuals and acting are no joke. Even if this video is confusing no one can deny the fact that it’s amazingly done.
