On Monday, May 14th, BTS released the official teaser for their upcoming music video for “Fake Love,” which is set to debut on Friday, May 18th.

The group’s label, Big Hit Entertainment, first shared the teaser at 11 a.m. ET, but then re-uploaded it at 1 p.m. ET due to an error.

Watch the teaser for “Fake Love” below.

The video opens with the words, “‘Magic Shop’ is a psychodramatic technique that exchanges fear for a positive attitude.” The group previously referenced the phrase, “Magic Shop,” during their performance of “Spring Day” at the KBS Song Festival 2017. Most recently, the group also included the phrase on the tracklist for their upcoming album, Love Yourself: Tear.

Fans believe that many of the repeated phrases and images that BTS uses in their music is all connected. The teaser for “Fake Love” has only strengthened some of the most popular theories, as some of the images from the group’s highlight reels is seen throughout the teaser, including a hair tie, a birthday cake and a lollipop.

In the video, the BTS members appear to exchange something for these items. The one member that doesn’t is Jungkook, who suddenly appears and receives a golden key. He leaves and uses the key to enter a room, but something is not quite right. Instead of wearing his colorful ensemble, he wears ripped up clothes, and fans believe his character did exchange something for the golden item – his happiness, or even his life.

The last few seconds of the video reveal a snippet of BTS’s upcoming single, “Fake Love.”

The single and music video for “Fake Love” will be released on Friday, May 18th, along with the group’s new album, Love Yourself: Tear.
