The MTV Europe Music Awards, or most commonly known as the EMAs, aims to celebrate the international and continental music scene, recognising achievements in diverse musical genres and geographical regions. Since 2007, audiences have been able to cast their vote for the ceremony’s traditional categories online. This year’s awards ceremony was held at the Bizkaia Arena (Bilbao Exhibition Centre) in Barakaldo, Spain, and was hosted by Hailee Steinfeld.
BTS have previously been recognised by the awards show, having been nominated for ‘Best Korean Act’ in 2014. The group would then later win the award for the same category the following year while also scoring a nomination for ‘Best Asian Act’ in 2015.
