BTS: Burn the Stage, A Review Thus Far

On March 20, global superstar BTS made an announcement of a new series titled ‘Burn the Stage’ hosted by YouTube Red. The series documents the band’s worldwide journey across the globe for their ‘BTS Live Trilogy Episode III: The Wings Tour’ back in 2017. From fellow member JungKook on the brink of fainting to their historic appearance at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, this eight-episode documentary is on its last leg, with only one more episode to broadcast before BTS returns to the scene with their new album ‘Love Yourself: Tear’.

Needless to say, it is has been an emotional roller coaster ride. The first two episodes start us off in Seoul, Korea where concert preparations are beginning to officially kickstart ‘BTS Live Trilogy Episode III: The Wings Tour.’ From there the boys make their way across the globe to South America, North America, and various regions in Asia where tensions run high and accidents occur as soon as they land. With RM losing his passport on the plane, JungKook struggling through the concert for his fans despite feeling unwell, Jimin criticizing himself over a vocal slip-up, V and Jin comes to disagreements.

Overall, all the episodes showcase the vast amount of effort, hard work, and admiration a group puts in for the perfect show. Appreciation for the group’s dedication toward their fans shines through, yet BTS also gives us the reality.

These weekly twenty minute reels have given insightful perspective as to what kind of lives these seven members go through on a recurring basis. The emotional toll fame and pressure has, the expectations, the individual and group standards that are placed.

‘Burn the Stage’ is truly an eye-opener to experience the expense at which fame comes, not just for BTS, but for other people who have a similar occupation. As we eagerly await the last episode, we hope that as BTS prepares for their ‘Love Yourself Tour’ we’ll soon get to relive a new season of ‘Burn the Stage’.
