BTS Impress With Their Stages And Sweep Up Awards At The 2018 MBC x Genie Awards

The group receives the most trophies for one of the first annual music award shows of 2018 with two more Daesangs added to their collection.

On November 7, the first-ever 2018 MBC x Genie Awards ceremony was held at Namdong Gymnasium, Incheon. BTS took home the main awards of the night, receiving the Daesangs for Best Artist of The Year and the Best Digital Album of The Year for LOVE YOURSELF 結 ‘Answer’.

The group also collected the awards for Best Male Dance Performance, and Best Male Group along with the Genie Music Popularity award which was entirely based on online votes, marking the group’s first Inkisang since their debut.

The staff supporting BTS behind the scenes were also recognised with Director Son Songdeuk winning the category for Best Choreography with “IDOL”, and Big Hit Entertainment CEO Bang Sihyuk PD winning Producer of the Year.

The group also had a joint stage with U.S. artist Charlie Puth, which acted as the headline event for the awards ceremony. Jungkook joined Puth in a stunning duet for “We Don’t Talk Anymore” before the rest of the BTS members appeared on stage to perform a beautiful unplugged rendition of “FAKE LOVE.”

BTS were also the final act for the night, setting the stage on fire with their impressive and powerful performances for “Save ME”, “I’m Fine”, and their most recent title track “IDOL.”
