We are so obsessed with BTS and we hope you are too. The seven-member idol group from South Korea has been making games and taking names ever since their triumphant win at the 2017 Billboard awards. Of course, prior to this, the boys were already making waves worldwide.
In case you’re still unfamiliar with them, here’s a quick crash course. Created under South Korean entertainment company BigHit, BTS stands for ‘Beyond the Scene’. It’s made up of seven members, RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. Their style of music is a mixture of pop and underground hip-hop. Their latest self produced collaborative track ‘Mic Drop’ features Steve Aoki and Desiigner. BTS is also one of the first few South Korean artists to appear on shows such as ‘The Ellen Degeneres Show’ and ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’.
Recently BTS announced that they will be coming back with a new album on May 18th, titled ‘Love Yourself: Tear’. On May 7th they have dropped their first Comeback Trailer titled ‘Singularity’. BTS always had their intro tracks as solo tracks, and this time its member V’s turn to shine.
RM was the creator behind their new track ‘Singularity’. The lyrics describe a person’s realization of their singular state and that realization freeing them to move on. The song is a slow Jazz and RnB fusion track with a very distinctive bass line which lazily pushes the track along. V’s voice is deep and dense, perfectly complimenting the nostalgic melody.
The music video is full of cookies for long-term BTS fans. The most eye-catching part of the music video would be V’s mannequin dance. Before you wonder how CGI worked its magic, it was actually V’s arm in that sleeve! The choreography was wonderfully designed by Keone Madrid. He has worked with the boys in past projects such as their hot track ‘Fire’.
