Born on September 1, 1997, Jeon Jungkook, the ‘Golden Maknae’, a nickname earned through his abilities to do well in anything he sets his mind too, aspired to be a singer after listening to Big Bang’s G- Dragon. At the age of 13, the youngest member of BTS, Jeon Jungkook began to embark on his musical career. Making his way from his hometown in Busan to the metropolitan city of Seoul, Jungkook took the initiative to audition for a singing program known as ‘Superstar K’ where, despite not passing the preliminary round of auditions, received seven different offers from top entertainment companies.
Regardless of the various offers, Jungkook revealed that he decided to join Big Hit Entertainment because of fellow member RM, whose rapping repertoire caught his attention.
After signing on with Big Hit Entertainment, as a trainee, Jungkook and Son SungDuk (BTS’s choreographer) flew to Los Angeles to expand their passion for dancing. While in Los Angeles, they explored various genres of dancing from hip hop, contemporary, urban style and more.
Quickly thereafter in 2013, Jungkook returned to the City of Angels to film Mnet’s ‘American Hustle Life’ with the rest of BTS, where “Nochu come through, I got you, my crew” has become the running joke between BTS and ARMYs.
However, the jokes don’t stop there as Jungkook is renown as the ‘meme king’ with ‘JungShook’ being the most iconic and representative meme around. Adding to the fire, after uploading a cover of Charlie Puth’s ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ the singer took to Twitter to express his admiration, only to make a typo, resulting in an explosion of hilarious edits from the fandom.
Since then there have been countless quips, but all jokes aside, apart from a solo cover of ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ Jungkook is known for his covers of Justin Beiber, Roy Kim, and so many more.
The nickname of ‘Golden Maknae’ rings true for Jungkook not only produces song covers for his fans from his studio ‘Golden Closet’ but also treats fans to vlogs that he personally edits and creates titled ‘G.C.F.’ which is an acronym for ‘Golden Closet Film’.
As a designated dancer and vocalist of BTS, Jungkook is indeed a multi-faceted entertainer and performer.
From a young teenager who came to Seoul all alone in the hopes of achieving his dreams to living with six other men who have become his lifeline and now reaching the status of a global superstar, Jungkook’s story has only just started to ‘Begin’.
Other facts about Jungkook: He is a huge fan of IU. He has revealed that IU is his ideal type, and that her album was the first album he bought.
Jungkook’s alternative career path would have been an athlete.
